Elle

Tatenda Ndlovu

Right, where to begin, probably at the beginning again, before finishing the drink in my hand
I’m just chilling at the bar, sipping and thinking, just grinning like I’m winning again, I’m pretty into it then
Out of the corner of my eye, I notice this one girl, she just sitting to the side, looking kinda bored
Holding a drink that I can’t afford, that’s a feeling that I can’t avoid, but who’s counting?
I make the decision to walk to her, go talk to her and I stumble for like a moment but I know I got it
I could have done without the drink that I was holding but the interaction couldn’t have been the same without it
Then I peeped her name tag and I thought “hey, maybe she could use my help (I don’t know why that was it but I mean)
I should take a moment, introduce myself”
She said “hi, my name is Elle as you can prolly tell”
I said “hey, that’s kinda crazy cause that’s mine as well, we might as well”
Got to talking and she thinks I’m fine as hell
Okay, so maybe she didn’t quite say that out loud but you know
We got to conversing about why she rocking converse instead of high heels, she said she trynna kick it
Told me that “you’re the type of nigga that I can get with if you put your mind to it, and get to stepping
I told her “gimme a second, I need to make a selection” and then I took a couple steps in the other direction
And now she looking at me kinda wild trynna understand my intentions but now the song’s different
And she’s like “woah.”, and they’re like “woah.”, cause now it’s me, her and De La Soul
I look into her eyes as she looks down at the floor and then uh, “oh, Elle, you already know”

I got an Elle, but she a win
I wanna see where this goes, but it might be the gin
Where do I go, where do I begin?
I'm bout to take an L tonight
I'm bout to take

She said “Okay, it’s something about the bassline, you got your hand around my waistline, you don’t waste time, I like that
You feel the beat and you don’t fight back, following my lead as I move and take it right back
And uhhh, this is what I feel like
Don't care if it's wrong, just as long as it feels right
We’re young, wild and carefree, this real life
Realize what we can be and still might
My mind's rushing a million different ways now, really don't know what to say now”
Ay, we’ve been out here for a while and I can tell by your smile that you really ain’t trynna stay away now
So if you down to get away though
I know a way out, just waiting on your say-so
We can take it to my place, go back maybe lay low, have you moaning like the today show
Then I can kiss you like the sun kiss you
And I can — you where the sun miss you
And you can show me how you like it
You know how you might get, it’s that feeling in your eyelids
Eyes closed like the world don’t exist
It’s just a me and you thing, Ella, this is it
And you know that I tell it like it is
We can get it one time and do it all over again
Cause I'm still on cloud 9 from the last time, remember when the last time meant the last time
No breaks that's our halftime, this'll be our last climb, I promise we can make it last
I'm only trynna vibe out, never take a break or see the bench, or need to time out
And we bout to cross a line now
But there’s only one way that we can find out

I got an Elle, but she a win
I wanna see where this goes, but it might be the gin
Where do I go, where do I begin?
I'm bout to take an L tonight
I'm bout to take

I got an Elle
I wanna see where this goes
Where do I go, where do I begin?
I'm bout to take an L tonight
I'm bout to take
