Plea for Forgiveness
I've spent my life searching for answers
Searching for the truth unknown
Yet as I sit here in the darkness
I feel regret in my bones
This was never meant to be
The way I lived my life
I'm broken, shackled, beaten down
It cuts me like a knife
Might I never see the sunrise
Upon the dusty plain
Might I never see the star light
Within the milky way
This is my plea now for forgiveness
If you are up there listening
As my life falls down around me
I feel dark clouds are gathering
I am a scientist of reason
I must record what I observe
This is my plea now for forgiveness
Or is it justice I deserve?
All I've done, for what it's worth
Is meaningless design
Without a cause to spread my words
A message lost in time
Will I stay here for evermore?
If it should end this way
Will no-one ever hear my call?
I'll see no break of day
Might I never see the sunrise
Upon the dusty plain
Might I never see the star light
Within the milky way
This is my plea now for forgiveness
If you are up there listening
As my life falls down around me
I feel dark clouds are gathering
I am a scientist of reason
I must record what I observe
This is my plea now for forgiveness
Or is it justice I deserve?
The end of the line
For tomorrow they decide
If the way I've lived my life
Is a blessing or a crime?
Might I never see the sunrise
Upon the dusty plain
Might I never see the star light
Within the milky way
This is my plea now for forgiveness
If you are up there listening
As my life falls down around me
I feel dark clouds are gathering
I am a scientist of reason
I must record what I observe
This is my plea now for forgiveness
Or is it justice I deserve?
