Sombre Elysium

A noise pervades the night, nearing unwavering
Roaring like thunder through canyons and valleys
The rhythm of stamping footsteps or of a beating heart
A disastrous deafening noise which is approaching

Blind and weightless I am captured under earth, I cannot breathe
This engenders such a pleasure, I hope I am not deceived

There comes the creature, fulfils my demand
It has the power, it takes my hand

Perhaps this is the end I think
Perhaps death is a sublime wonder
Something living whose hands embrace me
It is the embodiment of marvellous blessedness
We ascend to the stars
We leave the angles and holy ones behind us
And the light too, and submerge
Into divine darkness
Leaving our earthly existence
In oblivion all will be forgiven

While tasting mud in my mouth, it commands me to emerge
It dawns upon me that this is the end of my search
I feel a gust touching my numb face like velvet
And above the threatening clouds which veil the stars
