Form follows function, I wander this world on a budget
My greatest struggles ain’t nothing, but the same old hustles ain’t upended

Go to sleep and awake early in the morning, I always see the deceit through the pace, the streets distorted

In a safe, locked away from the dangers of new importance
The same discourse of the day with faint relics of what came before it
You cut the board with the grain and retain the strength that you forfeited

How many more preordained courses could be chased?
It’s times I walk these blocks like a tourist feeling dismayed
At night, can’t see the formidable image only the trace
Of accordance with the mortal abyss stored up within the range
Only thing in the forefront’s the portraits illuminated in the cityscape
In summer, there ain’t no light at the end of the tunnel it just surrounds you
Forget about struggle forget the fight that you’re bound to
When we eat, it’s feast or famine there’s no depletion of crown jewels

Just keep that gentle reminder
That same majesty that’ll seize your speech depletes the lies that you hide from
Nothing but leeches reaching porphyria feed to survive or give up

Try not to shudder from the numbness across the tundra from Prudhoe
And lose sight of the subject —- eyes in touch with the straight and narrow
That selfish drive that you clung to led to nothing but facing peril
And by the time you can stand at bay with the Chukchi, the farthest up from the compass arrow
You’ll come to find that enterprise you built up’s no longer terre bonne
