Affair
He walks into her somber room
All on her arms, IVs and tubes
He misses the sensation of running soapy fingers through her hair
Sits a while holding her hand
Talks of future, talks of plans
He says she'll make it, she'll be fine
She's heard the story tens of times
He has a few drinks at the bar
Surprised she's even lived this far
The girl he's eyeing down sits next to him and asks him for a drink
A Johnnie Walker on the house
She says she lives a few blocks down
At this point he barely sees but knows he needs to give himself to pleasure
Slips off her skirt, takes off his shirt
No going back, knows this will hurt
His pulse beats up, her pulse will stop
Looks through the eyes of his mistress and sees the stares of the departed
Run away
For how long
How long?
Run away
For how long
How long?
Run away
For how long
How long?
Run away
For how long
How long?
How long?
