Lethe stood alone against him
Contorted face, red with fury
Blackened veins, twisted muscles
Broken, blackened wings

He rushed at her again
She braced herself for the blow
When the dust settled
She was still unbroken

Black ooze dripped from his fingertips
Trenchant smile on his withered face
"I know what you are, child," he snickered
And slipped into the shadow

He came down from above her
Lethe unprepared, scrambled away
But not fast enough this time
Braced herself
Braced herself

Carina took the brunt of the swing
But both were sent skittering
Lethe spat blood upon the soil
The figure whirled and drew his scythe
"Fear me, child of light," he boomed

"I am the great abyss."
