At 21 (New Years Eve)

Sitting here on New Years eve

In the same bar on the same street

Our names are carved up on the wall

Telling stories just as tall

The truth is never guaranteed

No one talks about that day

But inside we’re smiling silently

We thought we’d change the world

Didn’t even come that close

It’s the one that got away

It’s times like these I still remember

Tumbling through the city streets

Running red lights you and me

Going crazy till the sun came up

All of us caught up in the dream

Wasn’t so hard to believe

Then I see her walking in

Times been kinder than I would have been

But she broke my heart in two

Like the great ones always do

But the memories just as sweet

Sometimes I wish that I had told her
