Hours Pass By

[Intro: Allan Watts]
(Clocks ticking)
Time is a social institution and not a physical reality
There is no such thing as time in the natural world
The world of stars and waters, and mountains and clouds and living organisms

[Verse 1: EZEC]
Feel like my whole life changed in the last year
Family supports me, they know that there's cash here
They know I won't grow up to be a cashier
We all know I can make it if I just spit my raps clear
They know that everything is fine
They know I’m gonna make it if I focus on my time
That's all we really got, yeah that's all we really need
I will show the world that I will succeed
Cause I'm me, I'm unique, yes I am a different breed
I'm growing right now, so I started up as a seed
This ain't a game, but other rappers I one-up
Y’all grind to like 3 in the morning, but I grind to the sun up
I put in my effort, you can't measure
But I’m under pressure, but none the lesser
I’m still designing my rhymes, to make them sound better
Do it forever, I see my dreams as pieces the way I put it together
Let's go

[Interlude: Allan Watts]
There is such a thing as rhythm
Rhythm of tides, rhythm of biological processes
But time as such is a social institution
Now of course, are we going to take time seriously
That is the big question

[Verse 2: EZEC]
And through this music I’m gonna just change my life
The art of the world's so beautiful if you can paint it right
I’m not a rapper, not a thug in the streets
But I still put it down like a murderer on these beats
I’m an artist, some nights I never go to sleep
Cause that's another minute lost, I could make my dream complete
Put in my time, and I make it all just sound right
So when I get up on stage, I make sure that the crowds right
I'm dedicated (dedicated), I stayed inside
On Friday nights, instead of having fun, yo I'd rather grind
I was in the studio, speaking to my microphone
Check the clock, it's the morning, I guess the night is gone
Until the sun comes back up, and the records just get smashed up
I won't even listen if you tell me that my raps suck
Nah (nah, nah, nah) it's all in my mind
But when I grind I just make the most all of my time
So who you know works this hard and is just 15
And writing these sixteens and following his dream?
Nobody, cause nobody, got the drive like I do
Nobody's killing rap just by writing simple haikus

[Interlude: Alan Watts]
Time is money, time is of the essence
And we do, don't we? Live in a culture
Or a complex of cultures in the Western world
Where we are literally driven by time

[Verse 3: EZEC]
I wasn’t made for these times, I was for way back
Before it was Raybans, Gucci, and Maybachs
Back when you would lay back, and just trade raps
Don’t worry about the money that you throw, you get paid back
No executives trying to undermine your talents
You’d work your whole life and it would show in your balance
You could upscale your life from an apartment to a palace
When you thought of quick rhymes, free styling was a challenge
"I get money, throwing bills for the hell of it"
2 years from now you whack rappers are all irrelevant
My rhymes are elegant, got some meaning and that's a big deal
Now theres too much beef and not enough bread, that's a shit meal
Keep ya shit real, speak what's on your mind
Real talent and raw lyrics are so hard to find
See I'm always on my grind, I always speak the truth
Trying to inspire the youth, and spit some fire in the booth
I wasn’t made for this second now right now
But I'll try and capture the time when I write down
Get up on stage and I vibe with the right crowd
But all there is, is phones up and lights down
Rocking to the right sound, but I’m in the present
Rapping is my profession, you can tell in every session
Every message, you can hear it
Every annotated lyric
You can read what I mean, you can feel it in my spirit like

[Interlude: Allan Watts]
Word, the old fashioned word, instincts
And now they call them drives
Because there's this feeling
You got to make that deadline
There's something there you got to get to

[Verse 4: EZEC]
This is just the beginning
But my story stays she same
Me and these other rappers are opposites causing I’m running the game
Working 12 hours like an insomniac, I do
Speaking to my girl, ain't met someone just like you
Now you’ve heard the first half
5 songs in, can you relate to my craft?
Did you smile? Are you proud? Did you cry? Did you laugh?
Or did just skip past?
The right side of your mind is creative and topical
The left side is realistic and logical
My teacher told me financially, the left would keep me strong
Forget the other side, does that mean that the right is wrong?
Doesn’t matter, every type of beat I write along
But for every emotion and every mood I have a song
For the club, for the streets, for the whip and for the sheets
Cause this is where intellect and versatility meets
Cheated on by my ex, I'm drinking about her
Writing these hot lines, I'm thinking about burns
Always in paradise, there's something I might learn
I feel like I'm changing, throw me in any cypher
This is everything I want, it's elegant and refined
Perfection is to the dime, this is my moment in time
This is my Chronic, my Under Pressure, my Illmatic
Started 2 years ago, but you know that I'm still at it
I got a team, and I'm following my scheme
Now I'll let you enjoy the other half of my dream
Other rappers doing nothing, watching the grass die
I been in the studio working, watching the hours pass by

[Outro]
