Have U Ever Had

Have you ever had a dream you let die?
Set fire to when you knew it'll never be?
Have you ever clutched the hope of this dream so tightly you thought you'll never let go
But only to turn your hand over just to fold?

I had a dream like that once. No, twice
Once when I was a little child and once when I was all grown
I wanted to be a musician
I'd be travelling the world, touring, have many fans and change the world through my music
I would close my eyes and see the crowds, the colors, hear the sounds...

And then I grew up
And I saw where I lived
Looked at my face and the color of my skin
And the money that wasn't there
And the courage that just wasn't there...

So I let her go
The hope I once clutched so tightly was replaced
By the hope that she will never come back
Cast into the waves of the sea while I set foot on the everyday street
