King Nothin'
Well I woke up this morning to a frightin’ sight
I had to rub the glass to see clearer
I found my crown turned upside-down
As I bowed to the man in the mirror
I finally see it now and I know just how
My castle began to fall
I’m the king of all I see
And I don’t see nothin’ at all
Well this just ain’t what I planned
Supposed to be a different man
A star on a sidewalk, model from a catwalk
A Cadillac caravan
My talk of fame all sounds the same
And my friends all think Ima bluffin’
So I crown myself the king...
King of this here nothin’
I drive into town, tryin’ to pull down
A gig that’ll get me nearer
To that pie in the sky that’s been catchin’ my eye
But they toss’ me out on my rear
I hold my head up high and I know just why
I’m destined for greater things
No queen and no money is all I know
but I’m still the reigning king.
I know it’s not my fault,
I had to put my guitar in hock
I wish those high fallutin’ suits
would give me a chance
I’m living like trailer trash,
alone and stuck in the past.
So I crown myself the king...
King of this here nothin’
