All I Want Christmas To Be

Is Christmas still how it used to be
Eyes shining bright like the Christmas tree
When fairies and reindeer would come out play
With us snotty nosed kids for a day

The night before Christmas I spotted an elf
Dangling its feet from the kitchen shelf
And then it was gone in the blink of an eye
No surprise, 'cause I knew they are shy

I remember when snowflakes tasted so sweet
And icicles were our favourite treat
And we laughed when our tongues would get
Stuck to the ice
Yes it hurt but we still did it twice

We’d only go home once wet to our socks
Somehow soup tasted better with rosy red cheeks
Those are the memories for keeps
