another place another time
it might've worked out and we'd all been fine
but we engineered our own downfall
we citizens of the global sprawl
it didn't take much to stumble and fall
not much at all
now we're hanging out in different rooms
all pretending to cherish meetings on Zoom
supposed to strengthen all our ties
but your faces all seem demoralized
I can see the light growing dim in your eyes
you're in your room and I'm in mine
we're both dreaming of another time
when someday soon we'll meet again
and then maybe we all can hug our friends
and be real again
