Seen her rockin' the Rainbow Store
That pretty little doll that I'd seen before
Stayed too long with the borderline
My emotional landscape was strip-mined
What's left of my heart came out to cause a stir
She knew I was watchin' her

Started gettin' glad that I was born
She walked right up to me
Said, "What's it gonna be?"

Said, "hey boy, what ya doin' here?"
"Just shoppin' for my sister, it's her birthday soon"
She knew it wasn't true but she was cool
Pushed my neck against the elevator door
Kissed me like I'd never been kissed before
Made a face so sweet and mean
I went down like a submarine
She walked right up to me

It felt like almost happiness
