The Pathway
Verse 1
I’m thinking back nowadays on the struggle
In the way I would huddle it away
Never thought that You cared - in a bubble
I was wayward and fuddled in my thoughts
In the mud of all this weight and depravity
I played I was tougher
Never strayed from the custom
In a way, I was stubborn
Locked away - though You sent me Your angels to buffer
Thought my ways were unlovable
Deranged; too rebellious to pray
‘Cause I felt far away
And untouchable - But wait!
What’s this other thing I see - walking closer to me
It’s beyond what my brain has uncovered
Now my shames bеing smothered
As the chains start to tumblе
By the weight –
Just a taste of Your grace is triumphal
Let it stay – Crashing over like the waves - It’s incredible
The strays – Let em stray til’ they reach the inevitable
But yea – Now I pray for a day with a better view
When hearts who are scarred by the war get ahold of You!
Chorus:
In the midst of your struggle
This is where I will be
Shining like a light all around you
Helping you to finally see
And when the dark passes over
And you can finally breathe
Don’t ever forget what it taught you
This is who I called you to be
Verse 2
Eyes open; Mind blowin’
Feel the weight upon my heart through the vibe as the lies broken
I’m speakin’ often of a switch in my mind – smokin’
Never got me as a high; now I fly often
Filled my life with His light - now I shine broken
Carry lanterns for sight to the mind ‘woken
Spirit bright - give a sign of the night cloakin’
Walk away – you’re a type of a mind jokin’
So what’s this? An enemy’s kiss?
Do you mean to betray Him who saves with ya’ lips?
I was taught that the Saviour was oh, but a myth
A figment of hope for us criminal filth
Who are seeking to merely escape from our guilt
They never mentioned the meaning of why His blood spilt
But now when I see Him on Calvary’s hill
I am thankful to God for the path that He built
Chorus: (x2)
In the midst of your struggle
This is where I will be
Shining like a light all around you
Helping you to finally see
And when the dark passes over
And you can finally breathe
Don’t ever forget what it taught you
This is who I called you to be
