Destiny's Darling
On the day I was born,
They said I was destiny's darling.
They said one day in him the world will see,
A soldier, a sailor, a great merchant tailor,
But certainly a man who grew "to be".
Destiny's darling, he's destiny's darling,
A man they say born to sit on a throne.
But, destiny's darling is nobody's darling,
For he belongs to destiny alone.
When my fortune was made,
I was famous a hundred times over.
But I needed someone to share all of this with me,
For power and glory are not all the story,
There's more to life than being born "to be".
Destiny's darling, he's destiny's darling
A man they say born to sit on a throne.
But, destiny's darling is nobody's darling,
For he belongs to destiny alone.
Once I courted a girl and said, "I'm destiny's
Darling".
I said, "the world is yours if mine alone you'd be".
I begged her, I wooed her, but though I persued her,
She turned me down for she could plainly see.
Destiny's darling is nobody's darling,
And though you own the world
You'll never be free.
For destiny's darling is nobody's darling
As long as he's a slave of destiny.
