With a Heavy Heart
Vespertine
White and grey, wished away
Turn the world into pieces of snow
Falling from dark clouds, and onto
Our lips as we gaze, our lips
As we gaze from below
Pressing on, biding time,
All it takes is a word and we're frozen,
Breathing the life back
Into all the frostbitten fingers
And wishes we made long ago.
Broken ears, let you go,
Drag your heart through the crestfallen jungle,
Staining the snowfall--remind us of
Blood we've spilt, and telling me
Where not to go.
