The Civilized Life

Christoffer Andersen

Used to be dreamer, now I gotta wake up
Play time is over, that's enough of that stuff
I once was like a king everywhere that I went
Now nobody knows me and I can't pay my rent

The curtain is closing
Feels like the noose is getting tight
Well, It might be for you, but I'm just not the type
To simply adjust to the civilized life

Go to school, go to work, go to bed and to church
Go see a doctor who makes you feel worse
In everyday life every day is the same
And everyone beats me at this everyday game

No time for dreaming
If I got to do 9 to 5
A job and a car, and a kid, and a wife
But I'm just not cut out for the civilized life

Once we were legends of far away shores
Those days are gone, you can't do that no more
Once I had the power but I'm no more allowed
To go out on stage to the roar of the crowd
That chapter is over
The page has turned to the other side
The glory days ended, got to take it in stride
But I'm just not cut out for the civilized life
