Make a Wish

Wayne Watson

When I was a little boy
I remember well
Big kids towered four feet tall
You were old if you were twelve
And I would sit and dream for hours
Of when I'll be a man
Make a wish upon the brightest star
Be held in heaven's hand

Now to this day, you know I can't say
All my plan have come to be
I've fallen short in many ways
Of dreams I had for me
But now I know who holds the answer
Right there in His hand
So I will trust in Him alone
And follow Jesus' plan

Now I don't have to wish on a star anymore
Or cast my hopes to the wind
'Cause I got a heart full of Jesus' promises
And I can live in then
Well, you're wastin' your time
With your wishin' and hopin'
Tryin' to get it all planned out
'Cause your everyday peace
Just comes from believin'
And trusting's what it's all about

Now why do we pray 'til Lord be with us
When He promised that He'd never leave
You'll hope for the best
But never get 'round to askin'
You'll live your life in unbelief
When all else is tried
And your plans have been exhausted
You finally turn to God in prayer
And faithfully He answers and keeps on giving
And the blessings are hard to compare

Now I don't have to wish on a star anymore
Or cast my hopes to the wind
'Cause I got a heart full of Jesus' promises
And I can live in then
Well, you're wastin' your time
With your wishin' and hopin'
Tryin' to get it all planned out
'Cause your everyday peace
Just comes from believin'
And trusting's what it's all about

'Cause your everyday peace
Just comes from believin'
And trusting's what it's all about
