Turnaround

I left a letter on the dresser saying “I’ll be home soon”
This repetition has you sitting all alone in our room
But understand I’m like a bottle at sea
Like a vessel with a message waiting for the world to read

Turnaround, I feel like I could use a change
I’d finally have a chance to breathe

Everything I’ve ever known
I’ve sacrificed with hopes I’d find a turnaround

A million things to say but somehow only a few words fit
I want to make a change, instead I’ve ripped this notebook to shit
‘cause I’ve been trying to find the perfect sentence
That’ll finally make a difference, may their eyes and ears be open

If only I could show you, let you open up my mind
Dig your nails into the back of my brain and separate the spine
You’d see that I only want what’s best
I want to be the voice that makes it’s way right inside their chest
