1932 Telegram Disaster
More!
It was a boring afternoon
In summer 1932
When everybody in the world
Had nothing much they had to do
So with a paper and a pen
Wrote out the words that they would send
Send to Boy
To send the world
A telegram
Well normally this worked out fine
They sent out words along the line
But they had never had to send
This many messages before
The operators cursed and swore
The Britain Press's spokesmen roared
They ran out of delivery boys
So they had to hire more
They telegrammed to prove that someone loved them
They telegrammed to say that no one cared
They telegrammed to say that they had nothing much to say
They telegrammed to prove that they were there
They telegrammed to say the sun went down before their eyes
And they telegrammed to say the sun came back
They telegrammed to hope they'd be remembered
Sending all the world their telegrams
Telegram to hope you'll be remembered
Sending all the world your telegrams
More and more and more and more (x4)
More and more and more and more words (x12)
If I can't think of nothing to say
I'm gonna say it anyway
I think I've not nothing to say
I mean I can't think of nothing to say
I'm gonna say it anyway
I think I've not nothing to say
And yes I can't think of nothing to say
And yes I say it anyway
I think I got nothing to say
And I got nothing to say (x4)
If I speak, If I speak, I know that I'm alive (x8)
I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive (x8)
Soon the streets were full
Of telegram delivery boys
And the marching of their feet
Shook everyone out of their sleep
The telegrams kept coming like
A blizzard of white leaves
Piling up around them whilst they read
And the socialistic head
Demanded every one was read
And replied to in its turn
So everything began again
And the only way to guarantee
So many letters back
Was give everyone a uniform
And a delivery boy's sack
They telegrammed to prove that someone loved them
They telegrammed to say that no one cared
They telegrammed to say that they had nothing much to say
They telegrammed to prove that they were there
They telegrammed to say the sun went down before their eyes
And they telegrammed to say the sun came back
They telegrammed to hope they'd be remembered
Sending all the world their telegrams
Telegram to hope you'll be remembered
Sending all the world your telegrams
Telegram to hope you'll be remembered
Sending all the world your telegrams
