The Proof of Innocence

The courtiers in King Krishnadevaraya's court,
were all jealous of the Tenali Raman's popularity.
they were plotting all the time to get even with him.
King Krishnadevaraya
knew that the courtiers were trying to
poison his mind against Tenali Raman,
so he paid no heed to them.
But the courtiers insisted,
they repeated the words against Tenali
before the King everyday,
and after some days,
The king thought that there should be some truth
in their saying.
The next day in the Royal Court,
When Tenali Ramen arrived,
King Krishnadevaraya,
asked him.
Tenali!
I'm getting many complaints that you are
fooling the people of our Kingdom,
and collecting money from them.
What do you have to say for your defense?
Your Majesty,
do you also believe in them?
Yes.
I do.
And if you say you are innocent,
prove it.
Tenali Raman felt very hurt
and insulted by the King's words.
He left the Royal Court silently
The next day,
as the Royal Court session was about to begin,
a soldier entered.
He held a letter in his hand
which he anded over to the King.
Your Majesty,
greetings.
I have served you as your loyal minister,
for many years now
But today,
i face false allegations.
The only way to prove my innocence,
would be to give my life away
So I shall do that.
Why?

Was death the only way to prove your innocence Tenali?

After he had finished,
another got up.
And the next one.
So everyone talked about Tenali.
Tenali was standing in the crowd inside the Royal Court
in disguise.
As soon as he heard them praising him,
he removed his false beard and ran to the King.
