Down runs a boy past the steps of the castle
Down to the dock where his dad works the day
Down runs a girl past the guards with their tassels
Out to a ship were they both sail away

Out goes the ship past the cliffs of the harbor
Down 'round the cape and then straight out to sea
A dockworkers son and the king's only daughter
Hundreds of miles from where they should be

'Cross the Atlantic to Chesapeake Bay

A husband, a wife, three good sons and a daughter
Living their lives on a tropical key

The spirits of the sea, watched over their love
It found them a family and home

Decades go by on the shores of the island
