Wide-Eyed
It was then I learned what was really expected of me
I carried myself out of the room
Licking the fire from my fingers
Laughing with lowered eyes,
you know that's how I roll
I speak when I'm spoken to
Random snowflakes spiral in the air
Fiery wide-eyed piece of misery
Their words mechanical
Lengthen like shadows at dusk
Their obviously memorized
Gestures feed my lust
I sit still in my chair
Digging my nails in my hands
Hoping for no prying eye
While I bite my tongue
I whisper everything
In case nobody wants to hear it
I make myself small and invisible
Don't let it fool you
