A Restless Heart Would Rather Float in Space
You hung me like a cape
To protect you from the clay outside
It swept deep over your green eyes
From the windows we would stare
As white cotton pushed so near our spines
We could hardly see the ground
As if nothing else existed
In this grey blue dusty mist
It contracted and expanded in waves
I placed my hand over your head
Swept away your fearful sweat that laid
Like dewdrops on your pale bones
You whispered my name
As I shouldered your pain inside
I said all is full of love
We emptied our glass
While the evening passed
I will keep you close to my chest
As we move on deeper down
This maze of our own insignificant existence
But with you in my spine I'll be warm inside
We can soothe each other’s worries
And let the northern lights paint our minds
You stared into my eyes
And said ‘All is black inside my mind
Will you stay by my side?'
I kissed your forehead and smiled
I said it was destined from the first time
I opened my eyes towards the sky
So please sing for me my love
Wrap your bright blue voice around my chest
I'll hold the mirror of love
Against the purple sun
In a desert in some foreign land
While we pour out our youth to the sea
